Job Overview This role provides administrative and clinical support to facilitate the delivery of patient care based on the nursing process. The RN House Supervisor assists in monitoring quality care by ensuring the efficient use of resources.

Education

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Bachelor's Degree in Science of Nursing (BSN) required for all Ochsner Magnet Facilities

Work Experience

Required – 3 years of RN experience

Preferred – Critical care or charge nurse experience

Certifications

Required – Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice

Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association

Preferred – Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and CCRN

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Proficiency with computers, software, and web-based applications

Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process

Strong conflict resolution skills

Excellent interpersonal skills

Ability to move throughout the department, the hospital, and between off-campus sites

Job Duties

Serves as a resource to the nursing staff in the delivery of patient care

Rounds frequently throughout the shift identifying issues that need administrative action and communication forward to appropriate level

Supervises and leads staff effectively

Provides care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the ages of patients served in the assigned area

Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style

Performs other related duties as required

Physical and Environmental Demands Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue. Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste. (The job should be rated Light Work when the required force is negligible.)
