Locum Consultant in General Surgery

Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a Locum Consultant in General surgery.
Main duties of the job The successful candidate will be expected to take up a post as a General Surgeon and undertake all forms of general surgery. The post holder would be expected to be skilled in advanced laparoscopic operating.
The successful candidate will partake in a 1:14 acute on call rota including rotas for CEPOD operating lists and acute surgical clinics.
The Gastrointestinal (GI) surgeons run the general surgical on call service (colorectal and upper gastrointestinal) which is currently a 1 in 14 rota. During periods on call the post holder will be freed up from all elective activity in order to run the surgical assessment unit on Ward 5 and to triage and treat all acute surgical referrals. The post holder also partakes in a 1:14 rota to provide CEPOD acute operation lists and weekday hot clinics. Familiarity with the management of general surgical pathology is therefore essential.
They will be required to deliver outpatient clinics, theatre and Endoscopy sessions and attend MDTs.
As part of the department the post holder would be expected to provide assessment to outpatients with a wide variety of conditions and would be expected to partake in the triage and investigation of fast track referrals. The post holder would also be expected to be Joint Advisory Group on Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (JAG) Accredited.

Evidence of completing an approved period of training in General Surgery
Qualifications
MBChB or equivalent
MRCP or FRCS of equivalent to specialty (UK) or equivalent
Member of the Royal College of Surgeons (UK) or equivalent
Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
