Associate Director, Global Pharmaceutical Communications
Associate Director will work on the Global Pharmaceutical Communications team, collaborating closely with cross‑functional teams to develop and activate integrated, comprehensive communications strategies and programs that support our company’s global pharmaceutical portfolio – including cardio‑metabolic, immunology, ophthalmology, respiratory assets and other hospital & specialty brands, as well as new assets acquired through strategic business development.
The Associate Director will work under the guidance of a Director. The role is based in either Rahway, NJ or Upper Gwynedd, PA and is part of our hybrid work model.
Primary Responsibilities
Strong collaboration with cross‑functional teams to develop integrated communication strategies and campaigns aligned with overarching corporate and franchise priorities.
Co‑develop campaigns and ongoing news flow to reinforce the value of our company’s medicines for employees, the public, scientific liaisons, investors, healthcare professionals, payers, and advocacy partners.
Stay current on trends in consumer engagement, digital activation, media and pop culture worldwide to employ new approaches for disease awareness initiatives.
Monitor the competitive landscape and media environment to identify emerging issues and opportunities to position our emerging pipeline and portfolio.
Co‑lead communications around expansion of the current product portfolio, including high‑priority medical meetings and new product launches.
Manage public relations agency(ies) and related program budgets to implement best‑in‑class communication plans.
Oversee high‑volume materials (press releases, social media content, core response documents, etc.) through medical and legal review processes, fostering strong relationships with review boards.
Identify partnership opportunities with key external organizations and experts to support business and reputational goals.
Qualifications
Minimum five years’ experience in communications or public relations; healthcare and pharmaceutical experience at a global, publicly traded company preferred.
Product communications experience – managing communications for a high volume of data and regulatory milestones; product launch experience highly desirable.
Excellent written and oral communication skills across digital, print, and video for U.S. and global audiences.
Confidence in leading and providing strategic counsel to executives.
Ability to handle crisis communications and deliver short‑term tactical objectives while providing long‑term strategic counsel.
Capacity to work successfully across teams and reporting structures in a matrix environment.
Strong project management skills with proven success managing major projects.
Detail orientation demonstrated through managing high‑volume communications through medical/legal review boards.
Team player, collaborative spirit, able to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑visibility environment.
Experience leading traditional and social media and global communications programs.
Excellent budget management skills; ability to connect dots across multiple agency partners.
Education Requirements

Location & Work Model The role is based in either Rahway, NJ or Upper Gwynedd, PA. Effective September 5, 2023, employees in office‑based positions will work a hybrid model with three total days on‑site per week (Monday‑Thursday) and Friday as a remote‑working day, unless critical tasks require an on‑site presence.
Salary & Compensation Salary range: $126,500.00 – $199,100.00.
Eligible for an annual bonus and long‑term incentive, if applicable.
