We are hiring a full-time Lead Cook to provide healthy, homemade meals for Franciscan sisters at our Chicago convent home/eldercare facility, located on the north side, near the neighborhoods of Lincolnwood and North Park (60659).
The Lead Cook will work a templated schedule that includes shifts on days (6:30 am – 3:00 pm) and afternoons (10:30 am – 7:00 pm), and a weekend rotation.
General Summary
The Lead Cook works closely with the Dining Supervisor to ensure that the daily operations are functioning at an optimal level within an elder care environment in a convent home. This position is responsible for cooking and providing healthy, nutritious, and attractive meals for residents in a safe working environment. During Dining Supervisor vacations or extended absences, this position will serve in place of the Dining Supervisor. The role assists management with the ordering of food and supplies, verifies invoices for the purchase of food, supplies, and equipment, and submits invoices to management. The Lead Cook also assists the Dining Supervisor with the training of new staff. Our employees in all departments work together to support the religious life of sisters by contributing to a warm and caring convent environment. Minimum of two (2) years of food service or restaurant experience (working in a commercial or institutional food service environment is a PLUS). Experience in an Assisted Living, Long-Term Care, hospital, or other healthcare environment is preferred but not required. SERV Safe certification preferred.
