Job Summary Drivers operate heavy‑duy trucks with front, side, or rear‑end load lift attachments depending on the line of business. They transport material to disposal, transfer, or recycle facilities and provide pick‑up services for containers filled with waste or recyclable material. Responsibilities vary across Commercial, Residential, and Roll‑off driver roles, including navigation of congested roadways and skilled backing maneuvers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operate vehicle in accordance with WM Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, DOT, and all applicable laws.
Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections and document checks using the standard DVIR.
Report unsafe situations or service issues to Operations Manager or Dispatch.
Attend scheduled training, briefings, and meetings as required.
Collaborate with Operations Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
Notify Management of incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
Notify Management or Dispatch of service interruptions (closed streets, heavy receptacles, hazards).
Communicate customer requests to Operations Manager or Dispatch.
Dismantle receptacles fully and leave the location clean and debris‑free.
Follow route assignments and complete end‑of‑day documentation and check‑out.
Assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
Qualifications Required
Minimum 1 year operating a vehicle requiring a CDL.
Minimum 1 year of equivalent military driving within the last 7 years.
At least 18 years of age.
Legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located.
Class A or Class B CDL with air‑brake endorsement.
Preferred
High School Diploma or GED (accredited).
Physical Requirements
Standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking, hearing.
