Location: 200 Madison Street, Jefferson City, MO 65102 or 1390 Timberlake Manor Parkway, Chesterfield, MO 63017 (Please reference which location you are applying for).
The Missouri Public Service Commission regulates investor‑owned electric, natural gas, steam, water and sewer utilities in Missouri. The Auditing Department is responsible for auditing the books and records of utility companies to determine revenue‑requirement recommendations on all formal and informal cases appearing before the Commission. Recommendations are provided to the Commission through expert testimony in both written and oral formats.
Responsibilities
Perform audits and examinations of investor‑owned utility companies operating within the State of Missouri.
Present oral and written testimony in formal rate cases before the Commission.
Travel may be required up to 30% of the time.
Work experience in this position qualifies for CPA certification.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, economics, business administration or a closely related field (May graduates are welcome to apply).
0‑2 years of professional accounting experience.
Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles and audit standards.
Good communication, interpersonal skills, and writing skills are essential.
Computer experience required; working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access software applications preferred.
Lack of post‑secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.
