Required Education: Must be a current full‑time UK student. This position is not open to BCTC students.

Required Related Experience: Some customer service experience preferred.

Required License/Registration/Certification: None

Physical Requirements: This position requires candidates to sit for long periods of time at the front desks of residence halls, especially during the night time hours.

Shift: Daily 12:00 am–4:00 am and 4:00 am–8:00 am; Tuesday 7:00‑9:00 pm; Wildcat Coal Lodge only: 4:00 pm–8:00 pm and 8:00 pm–12:00 am; Saturday & Sunday 8:00 am–12:00 pm and 12:00 pm–4:00 pm.

Job Summary: This position begins in August 2025. Students in this position provide coverage for the front desks in the residence halls. Shifts are overnight (i.e., 12:00 midnight–4:00 AM and 4:00 AM–8:00 AM). Student should be prepared to work at least 12 night time hours per week. The position is responsible for monitoring safety and security, responding to student needs, providing customer service to visitors, and enforcing University policies (particularly the residence hall visitation policy). This position requires students with self‑confidence, assertiveness, and a strong commitment to other students and their safety.

Specific Responsibilities:

Ensuring safety & security of residential facilities

Professionally enforcing policies

Providing excellent customer service

Supporting a sense of shared community within the hall

Attending and participating in regular staff meetings

Attending regular one‑on‑one meetings with supervisor

Staffing the building and the front desk at designated times

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities:

Strong decision making and critical thinking skills

Preferred Education/Experience:

Be a full‑time undergraduate or graduate student, in good academic standing at UK

Have previous experience with on‑campus living

Students should be prepared to work at least 12 night time hours per week

Be in good conduct standing with the university

Returning students must have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA
