Inside Sales Representative
The Inside Sales Representative is responsible for initiating, building, and maintaining customer relationships while managing sales opportunities from lead generation through order fulfillment. This role requires a balance of customer engagement, sales execution, and coordination across internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction and company objectives are met.
Base Pay Range $50,000.00/yr - $63,000.00/yr
Responsibilities
Initiates, builds, and maintains customer relationships.
Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads from various sources.
Handles inbound sales lead calls to convert calls into sales.
Makes outbound lead follow‑up calls to potential and existing customers by telephone and email to qualify leads and sell products and services.
Overcomes technical and business objections of prospective customers.
Determines the markup for material, considering market conditions, competitor positions, and customer importance.
Determines where to source customer orders and decides on floor‑stock or production based on lead time expectations and product specifications.
Establishes customer delivery dates in consideration of stock levels, product specifications, and logistics lead times.
Investigates and recommends responses to customer complaints regarding shipments and/or claims.
Decides how to respond to non‑partner customer orders based on importance, stock levels, and demand; may decline opportunities or adjust order quantities.
Tracks stock levels, coordinates customer training, prepares reports on business transactions, manages contracts, and analyzes customer forecasts to develop stock and release programs.
Recommends effective and efficient supply programs and works with Outside Sales Representatives to maintain account activities and up‑to‑date literature.
Required Skills and Abilities
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to engage stakeholders at all levels and negotiate effectively.
Ability to analyze complex information and make sound decisions.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent time‑management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
Strong problem‑solving skills with a proactive approach.
Ability to complete responsibilities with minimal supervision.
Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced and sometimes stressful environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
Three years of inside sales experience preferred.
Metal industry experience preferred.
U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residency is required due to ITAR and EAR regulations.
