Fair Haven RCC is a faith-based non-profit organization providing free advocacy and supportive services to survivors of sexual violence in Northwest Indiana. The organization challenges social norms through prevention education in the community. 40 Hours/Week ; On-Call Rotation

Role Description Under the direction and supervision of the Program Coordinator, the Victim Advocate provides comprehensive advocacy, crisis intervention, and support services to survivors of sexual assault and human trafficking through Fair Haven, Lake County’s Rape Crisis Center.
This position is responsible for responding to survivors at partnering hospitals, law enforcement agencies, and other designated locations across Lake, Porter, and LaPorte Counties. The Advocate also assists in managing Fair Haven’s 24/7 crisis hotline, ensuring compassionate, timely, and trauma-informed support to callers in crisis.
Advocates conduct individualized needs assessments, coordinate referrals, and collaborate with community partners to connect survivors with appropriate services and resources. Additional responsibilities include supporting the daily operations of the advocacy program and ensuring accurate, confidential maintenance of client records and program data.
Responsibilities
Provide Primary Medical Advocacy on an on-call schedule.
Up to 160 hours a month, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
Provide Back-up Medical Advocacy on an on-call schedule.
Up to 160 hours a month, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
Manage crisis line and handle holiday shifts, which will be chosen at a minimum one month in advance.
Qualifications
Applicant must consent to and successfully complete a full background investigation pursuant to NRS 179.180 et seq., which includes a criminal history check and fingerprinting.
Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
One-year experience providing crisis intervention, victim advocacy, and office assistance preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form required.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision required.
A valid driver’s license and a working, insured vehicle required at the time of appointment.
