Your role as a Venue Systems Technician You will provide first-level support for technological issues affecting venue systems and activations during games and special events at Petco Park. This role requires working nights and weekends to ensure smooth operations during all events. The ideal candidate is a results-oriented, thorough, and effective troubleshooter with excellent technical and strong customer service skills.
All the responsibilities we will trust you with
Exemplifying our Petco Park Promise: CARE, CONNECT, EXCEED by proactively welcoming all guests to the ballpark and consistently striving to exceed all guest expectations
Support system hardware at ticketing windows, entry gates, and other venue locations during games and events
Provide desktop support for systems used during games and events
Assist with the setup and maintenance of venue systems and activations
Manage escalation of major issues to third-party support personnel
Perform maintenance of hardware and software on desktops and laptops
Maintain technical proficiency on all end-user computing platforms: personal computers and laptops, Windows 10/11, MacOS, Microsoft Office 365, internet applications, accounting applications, CRM, and other customized applications
Assist with large hardware and software installations
Update and make status changes to assigned Help Desk tickets in the management portal
Work as an “apprentice” to the System Administrator and Network Manager to continuously expand skill set
Provide assistance with IT projects as needed
Participate in day-of-game and after-hours support rotation schedules
Other duties as assigned
Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most
Ability to work well with people in a support and training role
Ability to effectively diagnose and repair computer hardware and software problems
Understanding of computer networking concepts
Ability to explain basic concepts or procedures in a clear, concise, easy-to-understand manner for a large and diverse customer base who utilize a wide variety of in-house developed and off-the-shelf applications
Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment, including experience with MS Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc., and general knowledge of basic office equipment including copiers, laser printers, computers
Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and effectively work well with others in a collaborative, respectful manner
Exceptional time management and organizational skills with capacity to handle high volumes of detailed work, multi-task and manage projects on strict deadlines
Maintain professional demeanor with a high degree of discretion, integrity, and accountability
Maintain consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance
You will be required to meet the following
Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of employment
Associate’s degree, or equivalent experience, is preferred
MacOS experience a plus
Fluently bilingual in English/Spanish a plus
Able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays and extended hours as needed
You will be required to make yourself available for at least an 8‑hour shift on dates designated as “All Hands‑on Deck”. “All Hands‑on Deck” dates are events requiring full staffing due to promotions and/or full venue concerts and events.
Minimum physical requirements: able to travel to and gain access to various areas of the ballpark for prolonged periods of time during games and events; able to lift and transport up to 50 pounds
As a condition of employment, you must successfully complete all post‑offer, pre‑employment requirements, including but not limited to a background check
Salary and additional compensation Per the California pay transparency law, the hourly pay rate for this position is $21.14. Part time, non‑union employees are subject to the San Diego Living Wage Ordinance and rates will increase accordingly.
