Job Description Summary Provides receptionist/clerical support ensuring patient flow, comfort, and satisfaction. Primary responsibilities include answering phones, directing calls, scheduling patient appointments in the electronic medical record (EMR) system, data entry of patient information, insurance verification, and providing support to staff as assigned.
Responsibilities and Duties 70% Office Specialist
Greets patients, initiates paperwork, completes registration, verifies insurance, collects co-payments, establishes payment plans, and ensures accurate data entry into the EMR and billing systems.
Performs electronic and manual insurance verification, obtains pre-authorizations, and interacts with physician offices and third parties for necessary paperwork.
Updates patient charts, obtains signatures, files paperwork, and notifies clinical associates of patient arrival.
Answers multi-line phone system, screens calls, directs to appropriate associates, and ensures phone coverage.
Provides general office and clerical support: faxing, completing disability and FMLA forms, attorney requests, patient releases, industrial paperwork, and claim attachments.
Assists with keeping charts organized and scanned into the EMR, attends staff meetings and in-house education seminars.
30% Organizational/Office Responsibilities
Sorts, distributes, and mails transcription as assigned.
Orders and stocks office supplies.
Ensures office equipment is clean and well-maintained.
Provides support to staff as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED (Required).
1–2 years of previous secretarial experience in healthcare or medical office, or equivalent experience and training.
Work Shift: Day. Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40. Department: Urology Berger.
