Warehouse Supervisor

Reports To: Logistics & Import/Export Manager
Summary Bird Johnson has an exciting opportunity for a Warehouse Supervisor based in our Wrentham, MA facility. This role oversees the efficient operation of the warehouse, ensuring the seamless coordination of material handling, inventory management, order fulfillment, and shipping processes. The Warehouse Supervisor will lead and manage a team that includes Material Handlers and the Warehouse Administrator (ERP Super User). The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of warehouse operations, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and organized environment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership and Team Management:
Supervise and provide daily direction to Material Handlers and the Warehouse Administrator, ensuring all team members understand and fulfill their responsibilities.
Collaborate with the Warehouse Administrator to ensure the ERP system is fully optimized for inventory management, order fulfillment, and shipping.
Conduct regular team meetings to communicate priorities, address challenges, and review performance metrics.
Provide training, coaching, and mentorship to team members to ensure operational excellence and professional development.
Warehouse Operations:
Oversee the receipt, storage, and movement of materials, ensuring accuracy and timeliness throughout the process.
Ensure materials are staged and delivered to production areas as needed, minimizing downtime due to material shortages.
Monitor the fulfillment of customer orders, ensuring they are picked, packed, and shipped on time with accurate documentation.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by enforcing 5S standards and safety protocols.
ERP Management and Collaboration:
Work closely with the Warehouse Administrator to ensure all warehouse activities are accurately recorded in the ERP system, including inventory transactions, stock movements, and shipping documentation.
Collaborate with scheduling, production, and purchasing teams to ensure materials are available for manufacturing and customer orders.
Shipping and Logistics:
Manage all aspects of shipping, including UPS, LTL, TL, international freight, and expedited shipments.
Ensure timely creation of packing slips, bills of lading (BOL), and commercial invoices, supporting the team as needed.
Oversee the packaging and crating of products, ensuring compliance with customer and industry standards.
Monitor and report monthly freight cost data, ensuring alignment with budgetary goals.
Inventory Control:
Drive a robust cycle counting process to maintain high levels of inventory accuracy.
Ensure materials are stored in proper locations and accessible for efficient workflow.
Process Improvement and Compliance:
Identify and implement process improvements in warehouse operations to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Drive the implementation of lean principles in material handling and warehouse management.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
Associate's Degree in Business, Logistics, or a related field, or a minimum of 5 years of experience in warehouse supervision, transportation, or logistics.
Proven experience in warehouse operations, including material handling, inventory management, and shipping processes.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to train, mentor, and motivate team members.
Advanced knowledge of ERP/MRP systems for inventory and warehouse management.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively collaborate across departments.
Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift components weighing up to 50 pounds as required.
