Job Title - Transportation Engineer

If this describes you, we are looking for a talented and ambitious Transportation Engineer in our Chicago, IL office. You will provide engineering expertise on highway projects including roadway studies and design, drainage and utility systems, preliminary and final design, preparation of construction documents, cost estimates, project scheduling, and large, complex highway corridors.

What You Will Be Doing:

Perform plan development activities for a comprehensive range of transportation design projects such as horizontal and vertical geometry, cross sections, earthwork modeling, 3D roadway modeling, quantities calculations, construction specifications, and utility coordination.

Prepare and modify reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates, environmental studies, and designs for projects.

Evaluate need for design changes and make appropriate recommendations.

Adhere to company standards for quality assurance and quality control as defined in the quality manual.

Submit documents to federal, state, and local agencies for code compliance review and obtain permits when required.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.

A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.

Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Experience with Illinois Department of Transportation and Illinois Tollway design requirements, policies, and procedures.

Must be self‑motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a project team to complete tasks.

Working knowledge of roadway design software used to prepare engineering and design documents including Open Roads Designer (ORD).

Knowledge of virtual collaboration tools such as ProjectWise, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Teams.

Experienced in and fully capable of using the Microsoft software suite including Word, Excel, and Power Point.

Proven communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.

$91,800 - $117,900 a year (Salary range for CO location)
