Key Responsibilities

Participate in the company Safety Program and attend daily pre‑shift meetings.

Perform all duties in compliance with OSHA, company safety, and environmental regulations, wearing appropriate PPE.

Execute deckhand responsibilities such as reading drafts, opening/closing lids, tying off barges.

Carry out barge loading duties, including meeting draft and quality requirements and overseeing deckhand(s).

Transfer, load, and move grain to appropriate locations and maintain grain quality during storage and transfer.

Perform rail duties (prep, unloading, loading, placement) where applicable.

Complete Scale/Probe Operations duties where required.

Document all activities accurately, timely, and legibly.

Conduct general clean‑up (sweeping, shoveling, washing, painting, housekeeping).

Perform preventive maintenance or repairs as needed; operate heavy equipment when required.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

No experience required; preferred one year in an industrial environment.

Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).

Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

Ability to complete documentation requirements.

Ability to follow directions and troubleshoot problems.

Ability to work independently and within a team.

Ability to use tools appropriate for assigned tasks.

Ability to focus on exceptional customer service.

Physical Demands & Requirements

Ability to balance, bend, stoop, twist, crouch, crawl, kneel, squat, climb stairs and ladders.

Ability to concentrate on tasks without becoming distracted.

Ability to distinguish grain characteristics and odors.

Ability to enter information into a computer.

Ability to lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs.

Ability to meet PPE, PFT, fit testing, FRA, DOT requirements.

Ability to work in confined spaces and extreme weather conditions.

Ability to work extended hours, weekends, holidays, and alternate shifts.

Environmental Conditions Work is performed both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Personal protective equipment is frequently required. Travel may be required at some facilities (5–20%).

Compensation Base pay range: $18.00 – $25.00 per hour.
