WSYX/WTTE Columbus, Ohio is seeking a Broadcast/IT Engineer. This position involves maintaining broadcast equipment, computers and servers related to television transmission and video automation systems, as well as business-side workstations. The candidate will be directly responsible for hands‑on support of modern broadcast and IT equipment.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Maintain and repair cameras, video production switchers, audio equipment, video routers, automation/editing systems, video server systems, graphic systems, display systems, fiber networks, and satellite receivers.
Provide support in the management of servers, network security, and network services
PC hardware/software support of on‑site installation, service, troubleshooting, and repairing of workstations
Provide support for the technical needs of the News Department
Provide first response support as needed to maintain live news broadcasts
Assist with video equipment set‑up and maintenance
Assist with LAN and WAN related hardware and software maintenance
Apply regular security updates
Perform physical inventory of equipment
Assist in fleet management
Assist in media management
Assist in building maintenance and scheduling of maintenance
Help maintain digital telephone system
Other duties may be assigned
Other Qualifications and Requirements:
Associate’s degree preferred or higher in broadcast, IT, electronics or computer related field
2–4 years of related broadcast experience
Self‑starter, able to work efficiently without direct supervision and as part of a group
Be able to work effectively with other departments receiving and communicating instructions via email, phone, or in person
Be able to read and understand technical materials
Experience working with computers, servers, and network switches
Hold a valid driver’s license with clean driving record
Proficiency in troubleshooting problems and responding quickly under pressure
Familiarity with Ross and Avid related software and hardware products a plus
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Must be able to work a flexible schedule
On‑call duty, including weekends and holidays
Ability to lift computers and equipment generally 50 pounds
