Division Overview
The Division of Labor Standards and Statistics provides information and analysis that enables effective decision‑making and administers labor laws that uphold the rights and responsibilities of workers and employers. The Division is hiring a Compliance Investigator I position (“CI”) with the Job Equity Enforcement Program (“JEEP”), which investigates and enforces Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act (“EPEWA”) and related statutes. Responsibilities
Conduct investigations of alleged violations of part 2 of EPEWA, including notifying employees of available job opportunities and disclosing compensation and other information in job postings. Investigate complaints involving information included on or excluded from job applications. Gather and analyze evidence from workers, employers, and publicly available job postings or applications to determine whether a labor law violation occurred. Write decisions and orders directing employers to pay wages, penalties, fines, or other relief, and to change unlawful practices. Answer questions, verbally and in writing, from the public about the labor laws the Division enforces. Maintain a neutral third‑party role in investigations, ensuring a fair opportunity for all parties. Produce decisions efficiently, meet claim closure requirements, and write clear, defensible determinations. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Five (5) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to investigations, research, writing on law or policy, teaching, training, or outreach on complex subject matter. OR a combination of related education and or relevant experience equal to five (5) years. Strong communication skills – able to articulate complex information to a wide audience in writing and verbally. Critical thinking, problem‑solving, and transparency & accountability abilities. Experience with labor law investigations, writing decisions, interpreting statutes, rules, and regulations, and strong interpersonal skills. Benefits
