Job Description Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Our mission is to help ensure the security of the United States and its allies by providing high‑hazard experimentation and incident response capabilities through operations, engineering, education, field, and integration services and by acting as environmental stewards of the Site’s Cold War legacy. Our vision is to be the user site of choice for large‑scale, high‑hazard, national security experimentation, with premier facilities and capabilities below ground, on the ground, and in the air.

Key Responsibilities

Assist facility management with the development of CONOPS culture based on specific hazards.

Provide support and feedback during 3‑year matrix updates as required per DOE O 422.1, “Conduct of Operations.”

Develop knowledge and proficiency with Conduct of Operations principles (shift turnover, communications, repeat backs, procedure/compliance, log keeping, required reading, alarm response, etc.) as disseminated through company policies, directives, and established work processes.

Exercise judgment as a CONOPS representative while allocated to a facility, project, document or procedure review team, or other working groups as directed.

Review and understand DOE orders, standards, policies, and procedures to identify hazardous conditions and operations.

Review and understand Standard, Abnormal, and Emergency Operating procedures and support the improvement and training of DAF Operations.

Assist in the development, review, and implementation of the facility Safety Basis.

Periodically review procedural controls to ensure all changes impacting facility operations are appropriate, necessary and viable.

Promptly identify deficiencies and communicate findings to DAF management.

Comply with established regulations and procedures for environment, safety, health, and quality and perform duties in a way that will not cause personal danger, endanger other individuals, or violate environment, safety, health and quality regulations.

Perform other duties assigned by Management.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the position or equivalent training and experience.

Experience working with requirements‑based systems for facility operations or maintenance operations.

Training or experience with high‑explosives handling and operations, or chemical handling, storage, transfer, and controlled release activities.

Training or experience in areas related to nuclear operations or nuclear maintenance such as those found at DOE nuclear facilities, commercial power plants, or U.S. Navy nuclear experience a plus.

Ability to read and follow detailed instructions utilizing Standard Operating Procedures.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Computer skills in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook desired.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q‑Level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship and a minimum age of 18.

Work schedule will be 4/10s Monday through Thursday (subject to change).

Work location is in the Forward Area of NNSS, 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Pre‑placement physical examination, including a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

Must possess a valid driver’s license.
