PR / Marketing / Education Coordinator
Location: Manhattan, NY (Hybrid – Minimum 1 day/week in-office + event dates)
Type: Part-Time, Contract
Compensation: $20 – $25/hr
Company Description African Diaspora Film Festival (ADIFF) showcases a diverse selection of contemporary and classic independent and international films, highlighting the rich and multifaceted experiences of people of color from various cultures and backgrounds around the globe. ADIFF and ArtMattan Productions have been presenting and distributing films by and about people of African descent for over 30 years, with programs in New York, Chicago, Washington DC, Paris, and beyond. Our work connects cinema, education, and community engagement with a strong commitment to independence, integrity, and cultural respect.
Role Description We are recruiting a PR / Marketing / Education Coordinator to support our year-round film and festival programming. This is a hands‑on, hybrid role designed for a "digital first" thinker who enjoys using AI, automation, and emerging tools to amplify independent voices. Based in Manhattan, you will assist in creating press strategies, managing media relations, and enhancing educational outreach both on‑site and remotely.
Key Responsibilities
AI Content Production:
Use AI‑assisted tools to repurpose trailers, filmmaker interviews, and long‑form content into short‑form videos for social media.
Automation & Scheduling:
Orchestrate social media output using automation tools, ensuring a consistent brand voice and visual identity.
Cultural Copy Editing:
Review and refine AI‑generated copy to ensure cultural accuracy, clarity, and alignment with our mission.
Strategic Outreach:
Support PR campaigns targeting journalists, universities, and cultural partners; maintain press materials and educational resources.
Visual Design:
Create professional visual assets (posters, social graphics) using AI‑enabled design platforms.
On‑Site Event Support:
Provide front‑of‑house support and guest coordination during screenings, panels, and events, including evenings and weekends during peak festival periods.
Live Content Capture:
Document behind‑the‑scenes moments and audience engagement during live events for real‑time social media storytelling.
Qualifications
Mission Alignment:
A profound interest in Black, African diaspora, and international independent cinema; driven by cultural substance over mainstream trends.
Technical Agility:
Proficiency in Hootsuite, Kit, and Canva. Early adopter of AI‑based video and text tools and eager to master new technologies.
Communication Excellence:
Strong skills in media relations and press release drafting; ability to transform raw AI output into polished, professional prose.
Professionalism:
High level of reliability, accountability, and the ability to work independently in a hybrid environment.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
Location:
Must be NYC‑based and available for weekly in‑person office days and festival event dates.
