Neonatal pigs are used as a clinically relevant large animal model of cerebral vascular disease and blood-brain barrier disruption caused by epileptic seizures and hypoxia-asphyxia. Placing particular emphasis on endogenous antioxidant cytoprotective mechanisms in the neonatal brain. Combine intravital microscopy of the brain vasculature with cellular-molecular studies in cerebrovascular myocytes, endothelial cells, and astrocytes to identify the mechanisms of neurovascular survival during oxidative stress.

Qualifications EDUCATION:

PhD or MD. Proficiency in vascular physiology or a related field is required.
