$113,000 – $121,000 plus 17% Superannuation and annual leave loading.
Contract:
Fixed term – 12 months, Full‑time (35 hours per week).
Role Summary:
The Postdoctoral Research Associate (Level A) will contribute to the Smart Materials and Surfaces research group in the School of Chemistry at UNSW as part of an ARC Discovery grant on nanoconfinement in electrochemistry. The position involves performing fundamental electrochemical research and developing electrodes to investigate nanoconfinement effects.
Conduct research in electrochemistry and electrocatalysis.
Perform and supervise electrochemical evaluations of catalytic materials.
Write and maintain laboratory notebooks detailing all experiments.
Complete experiments and provide timely analysis of results.
Analyze and write results for publication in peer‑reviewed journals.
Contribute to writing scientific papers and reports for international journals and progress reporting to other researchers and industry partners.
Prepare research proposal submissions to funding bodies and seek industry collaborations.
Coordinate research activities and contribute to outputs to meet project milestones.
Present results at national and international conferences.
Demonstrate the Code of Conduct and Values.
Cooperate with all health and safety policies and take reasonable care.
About the Successful Applicant
PhD specialising in electrochemistry.
Demonstrated ability to develop electrochemical procedures for material characterisation.
Extensive experience in performing electrochemical measurements.
Experience in materials synthesis.
Previous experience in a research environment and training PhD and Honours students.
Ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
Highly developed interpersonal skills.
Strong communication skills with diverse stakeholders and students.
Commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values and relevant policies and guidelines.
Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to relevant training.
