Position Summary Dr. Gomez-Lopez’s research is primarily focused on the immunological pathways that lead to obstetrical disorders, with the goals of improving the understanding of the mechanisms of disease and of developing methods for the early diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of pregnancy complications, with an emphasis on preterm birth. Successful candidate will also participate in translational efforts in this area. Applicants with a strong background in molecular biology, single-cell technologies, and in using rodent models are encouraged to apply.

Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Conducts research experiments and assays focused on understanding the immunological pathways that lead to obstetrical disorders.

Evaluates laboratory research results, reports research findings and discusses project outcomes with laboratory staff, trainees, the PI and collaborators.

Presents research in lab meetings and participates in journal clubs and data presentations.

Performs data entry and maintains meticulous research notes and records.

Helps with general laboratory duties, including cell culture, ordering, coordinating regulatory information, and preparing reagents.

Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.

Coordinates research projects with other institutions and investigators.

Participates in developing hypotheses to be tested and ways of testing it.

Assists with general supply/equipment orders, lab maintenance and cleaning.

Performs literature searches on specified topics.

Working Conditions

Works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards.

Must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

Required Qualifications Education:

Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education.

Salary Range $17.10 - $29.09 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
