Position Overview Working Title: Chaplain Administrator – F/C (OPS – Other Personal Services) at Holmes Correctional Institution.

Pay Plan: Temp, Salary: $21/hour, Position Number: 70910521, Posting Closing Date: 01/23/2026.

The Florida Department of Corrections’ Bureau of Chaplaincy Services provides comprehensive spiritual care and support to inmates, staff, and families through religious programs, pastoral counseling, worship services, and educational opportunities.

Responsibilities

Plan, schedule, implement, and coordinate supervision of dynamic Chaplaincy Services programs.

Provide pastoral care, conduct inspiring worship services, and teach religious education classes for inmates.

Take charge of the Certified Food Option Program and administer the Religious Diet Program, ensuring all dietary needs are met.

Maintain detailed records, submit comprehensive reports, and process documentation related to chapel activities and the diet program.

Supervise the volunteer program and support the Senior Chaplain with institutional visits and meetings.

Benefits OPS employees working an average of 30+ hours per week are eligible for state group insurance plans.

Standard PPO/HMO options:

Employee Only: $25 biweekly

Spouse Program: $15 biweekly

Employee & Family: $90 biweekly

Dental: Five separate dental plans with monthly premiums as low as $12.64.

Vision: One single vision plan through Humana with monthly premiums as low as $5.92.

Life: $25,000 group term life insurance with monthly premium of $3.78. Eligible employees may elect child and spouse life insurance.

Retirement: Florida FICA Alternative Plan with Corebridge Financial; 7.5% employee contribution, automatic enrollment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.

One year of professional experience as a clergyperson or related experience.

Current written approbation or endorsement by the appropriate ecclesiastical body.

Additional Information The Department requires a Level 2 background check under Chapter 435, Florida Statutes for all applicants and volunteers, completed before work or volunteering begins.
