This early career position offers an opportunity for a recent graduate or early‑career professional to work on a wide variety of projects in environmental compliance, industrial hygiene, safety, and sustainability.
Position Overview We are seeking an enthusiastic Occupational Health and Safety Specialist to join our Corporate Health and Safety Department. This role involves regulatory compliance analyses, audits, research, program development, training, and policy writing across diverse projects.
Responsibilities
Perform regulatory compliance analyses, audits, and assessments for safety on various types of projects such as soil remediation, sediment sampling, dredge placement, building demolition, well installation, and groundwater sampling.
Conduct technical research for application of OSHA and other regulations to unique projects like shoreline stabilization, extremely remote work locations, and uranium mine cleanup.
Support the development of safety programs.
Create and deliver safety training on topics such as fire safety, HAZWOPER, ladder safety, and more.
Write safety policies and standard operating procedures.
Create and report on safety metrics.
Required Qualifications
B.S. degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related discipline.
0‑3 years of professional experience in the occupational health and safety field.
Strong self‑motivation and the ability to work effectively with peers, clients, and independently.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Basic understanding of federal and/or state regulatory programs and statutes.
Comfortable working in both office and field/industrial environments.
Interest in regulatory compliance issues and a passion to learn and participate in a wide range of environmental, industrial hygiene, and HazMat assessment projects.
Travel required (approximately 25% of duties).
Desired Qualifications
Interest and ability to achieve ASP, CSP, CIH within the next five years.
Familiarity with technical editing in Word.
Interest in technology such as safety management system software, mobile data collection, and emerging exposure assessment tools.
Travel and Driving This position requires specific driving duties. Applicants must be able to pass a motor vehicle records check required by our insurer.
Drug Screening Offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a drug screen.
Pay Range $55,000—$80,000 USD. Salary is determined based on position responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, and market data.
