Immigration Outreach Coordinator (Full-Time; Temporary)
Report directly to Senior Director of Adult and Immigrant Services. The role is responsible for coordinating and conducting outreach and know-your-rights trainings (KYR) throughout Western Queens. It includes developing KYR curricula, building partnerships, leading a corps of volunteers, and administrative support for the immigration legal services team.
Temporary role concluding June 30, 2026.
Sunnyside Community Services (SCS), a multi‑service settlement house located in Western Queens. SCS Adult and Immigrant Services offers ESOL classes, benefits screening, financial relief grants, immigration legal services, assistance enrolling in childcare, and support with college savings.
Responsibilities
Curriculum Responsibilities (15%)
Develop KYR presentations for community members, emphasizing safety and inclusion.
Create outreach materials (flyers, social media posts, etc.).
Collaborate with senior staff to develop outreach protocols to local small businesses.
Train a corps of volunteers to conduct small business outreach with KYR materials.
Respond to changes in immigration enforcement in partnership with the legal services team.
Outreach Coordination Responsibilities (65%)
Build partnerships with community‑based organizations, religious institutions, and anchor institutions in LIC, Sunnyside, Woodside, and Elmhurst.
Leverage partnerships to host group KYR presentations to vulnerable community members.
Conduct KYR presentations at SCS sites and partner sites, adapting to audience and space constraints.
Collaborate with the Volunteer & Community Outreach Coordinator to train volunteers for small business outreach.
Administrative Responsibilities (20%)
Track events and attendance in Salesforce.
Track all small business outreach activities in Salesforce.
Assist the legal services team with document scanning, mail preparation, and filing.
Qualifications
Bilingual with Spanish fluency required; other languages a plus.
Experience in community organizing or direct outreach.
Excellent communication, project management, and multitasking skills.
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication abilities.
Demonstrated cultural competence with respect to local communities.
Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Proficiency using laptops, computers, tablets.
Compensation $25.82 – $28.57 per hour
