Summary Provides additional support to Pre‑K teachers on a daily basis through a variety of tasks in order to maintain a structured and successful learning environment for the students.
Essential Functions / Responsibilities
Aid teacher in preparation of daily student skill building activities.
Instruct students as needed to ensure proper skills enhancement.
Assist teacher with large and small group activities.
Assist teacher in maintaining classroom discipline and order.
Organize student work stations before each daily instructional session.
Review student work assignments ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Collaborate with teachers to ensure planned curriculum is executed.
Instruct the daily classroom activities in the teacher's absence.
Prepare and organize daily work papers.
Ensure students and parents receive weekly informational bulletin and homework.
Assist teacher with student restroom breaks.
Assist teacher by ensuring safety of the students throughout the transportation process.
Develop cooperative and functional relationships with district staff and the public; maintain consistent and punctual attendance; ensure job responsibilities are met competently and within established deadlines.
Assist with special projects.
All other duties as assigned by the administrator.

Qualifications Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Associate Degree or higher OR 48 hours of college credit OR passed the ParaPRo (paraprofessional test) OR passed the OGET (Oklahoma General Education Test) OR passed the WorkKey.
Generally will have at least one year's experience in a closely related field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to follow all district policies and procedures. Ability to work independently, displaying initiative and enthusiasm for the tasks being done. Demonstrating strong communication skills, orally and in writing, with faculty, staff, team members, and administrators. Ability to work without supervision, and work as a team player. Ability to manage confidential information in a manner that respects students, families, and employees. Ability to listen effectively.
Language Skills Ability to read and interpret general written instructions in English. Ability to effectively communicate with supervisor, school personnel, and co-workers.
Mathematical Skills Ability to perform basic math functions such as addition and subtraction.
Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Physical Demands Employee often required to stand and walk for long periods. Reasonable accommodations may be made.
Work Environment Environment may be moderately loud; own transportation to sites required. Reasonable accommodations may be made.
