Commercial Construction Estimator Great Falls, MT

Full‑time position, open through January 24, 2026.

Responsibilities

Primary office role with 15% field work depending on project.

Familiarize with Capital Business processes for new service requests, relocations, and other assigned tasks.

Communicate timely and effectively with customers, contractors, engineering firms, and regulators.

Work in a team atmosphere to complete responsibilities within the Capital Business process.

Answer customer questions about utility extensions and capital business processes.

Use locates, mapping, and site visits to determine locations of current or upcoming utilities, prospective routes, and critical landscape features such as wetlands, drainage, culverts, and traffic concerns.

Locate electric, gas, communication, water, sewer, and other underground facilities.

Obtain permits as required.

Design underground electric and/or gas services and other work assigned.

Provide design estimates, create job quotes and contracts, and ensure cost estimates meet company standards.

Manage project implementation, coordinating with customers, nearby utility providers, contractors, traffic control firms, and supervising crews on site.

Perform capital forecasting for man‑power hour allocation.

Communicate both written and verbally in a clear and concise manner.

Represent NorthWestern Energy and interact responsibly with employees, contractors, agencies, and other stakeholders.

Drive to work sites, which may require overnight stays, extended hours, evenings, and weekends.

Work in all weather conditions.

Adhere to company safety standards and the Code of Business Conduct & Ethics at all times.

Qualifications

Demonstrated good safety record.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Business, technical degrees, or extensive construction background preferred.

Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

First Aid/CPR certification.

Knowledge of safety policies and procedures.

Compensation & Benefits $55,600 to $81,000 per year, depending on experience.
