Responsibilities
Support the producers and maintain high client retention by building and managing client relationships, and cross‑selling.
Works proactively to maintain relationships with carrier and client contacts. Takes significant role in meetings and on calls. Communicates directly with clients and vendors.
Reviews benefit plan summaries, and carrier source documents for accuracy. Understands more difficult and complex regulatory language and rules.
Conduct coverage analysis and understand client’s concerns and goals during new sales phase.
Develop and maintain excellent carrier and broker relationships.
Interact with others effectively by utilizing good communication skills, cooperating purposefully and providing information and guidance, as needed, to achieve the business goals of the company.
Provide leadership and mentorship to the team that promotes teamwork by sharing experiences, assisting others when help is needed and maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
Keep informed and pursue industry education, new product knowledge, legislation, coverages and technology to continuously improve knowledge and performance with the ability to articulate and educate those around them.
Manage a book of business comprised of clients who are fully insured and self‑insured and may have advanced contract features and structures that require a higher level of experience and technical expertise.
Act as primary contact between clients and insurance carriers and retain clients through excellent customer service which includes open and clear communication with clients, producers and carriers/brokers. Ensure accurate and timely responses occur between all parties.
Lead client meetings and provide “on the spot” strategic guidance and financial performance information in conjunction with or independently from the Benefits Producer.
Negotiate final terms and conditions with carriers as needed.
Initiate regular client contact as established by the client service calendar and renewal timeline.
Educate, advise, and be a technical expert for clients on all compliance topics including, but not limited to, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, 5500s and Health Care Reform.
Place new group insurance contracts for existing clients and new clients effectively utilizing resources to match client needs.
Administer renewals including preparing appropriate contractual changes.
Conduct on‑site meetings, including open enrollment meetings to communicate to employees and/or administrator about their benefit plans.
Develop employee memorandum drafts for client to communicate the following: annual renewal changes, enrollment procedures, miscellaneous benefit changes and/or clarifications.
All other duties as assigned.

Strong ability to problem solves, make independent decisions, set and meet deadlines, communicate, negotiate, work under pressure, organize, prioritize, manage multiple tasks and operate in a fast‑paced environment.
Positive attitude, cooperative team player, adaptable to new or changing circumstances, professional demeanor, sensitive to client needs, self‑motivated, creative and innovative.
High level of computer literacy, refined verbal and written communication skills, and excellent attention to detail with ability to self‑check work.
Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
Required
Must hold an active Life and Health license.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
3+ years relevant work experience.
Excellent interpersonal and sales skills.
Ability to identify and contact prospective clients.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
