Position Overview
Quality Inspector – Aerospace Manufacturing
Location: Lombard, Illinois.
Pay: $60,000 – $80,000 per year.
Job Description A precision manufacturing organization serving aerospace, defense, energy, medical, and OEM markets. We specialize in metal spinning, hydroforming, and CNC machining of complex components ranging from 1” to 100” in diameter across demanding alloys. With a tight‑knit team of 40+ skilled professionals, we deliver high‑stakes, mission‑critical parts for flight, space, and defense applications.
Key Responsibilities
Perform incoming, in‑process, final, FAI, and PPAP inspections.
Use precision metrology tools including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, and CMMs.
Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, customer specifications, and quality flowdowns.
Conduct capability studies, Gage R&R, and support calibration activities.
Create ballooned drawings and complete AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports.
Record inspection results and maintain full part and material traceability.
Verify compliance with AS9100 and internal QMS requirements.
Document nonconformances using photos, tags, and corrective action support.
Partner with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve inspection issues.
Support overflow or backup inspection needs across departments.
Participate in manufacturing and process audits to verify compliance.
Qualifications
High school diploma required; technical training or coursework preferred.
Minimum 2–3+ years of hands‑on quality inspection experience in precision manufacturing.
Strong background in GD&T, blueprint interpretation, and tight‑tolerance inspection.
Experience performing FAI, PPAP, and in‑process inspections.
Working knowledge of aerospace or regulated manufacturing environments.
Proven ability to use precision measurement tools and CMM equipment.
Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, and ITAR requirements.
