Position Overview Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is looking for a Senior Materials Management & Transportation Manager (Level M) to lead the BDS Materials Management team in Huntsville, AL. The manager in this role will develop cross‑functional partnerships to achieve team and program goals while developing and implementing a Production Control environment that promotes accountability, trust, teamwork, quality and safety.
Position Responsibilities
Lead the establishment and operational launch of a new Production Control organization, defining structure, processes, and KPIs to ensure efficient production planning and execution
Train Mfg. Leaders and ICs in fundamental elements of PC
Develop and execute integrated organizational strategies, policies and procedures and provide input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, objectives
Acquire resources for organizational activities, provide technical and operational management of suppliers and lead process improvements
Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports through Seek, Speak, and Listen
Provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes to drive First Pass Quality
Manage, develop and motivate employees and first‑level managers for individual and team development
Assist with driving Boeing’s Production System (BPS) transformation (OneBPS). The position requires someone who can coordinate and gain consensus across the organization horizontally and vertically
Manage the total product flow from supplier to completion, identifying issues and future challenges based on trends
Effectively problem solve to address production challenges and improve processes
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
5+ years work experience in Production Control, Materials Management, Supply Chain, or Logistics
5+ years of experience in a leadership role leading diverse teams, initiatives, or projects to meet business objectives and influence change
5+ years of experience leading cross‑functional teams
5+ years of experience with continuous process improvement initiatives
3+ years of experience working in a manufacturing, assembly and/or aerospace environment
Ability to work any shift based on the needs of the operation
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
5+ years of experience in using Lean principles
3+ years of experience with Production Planning and/or One Boeing Production System (One BPS)
3+ years advising and influencing managers or non‑managers to meet schedules or resolve technical or operational problems
Prior experience with Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation (DFAR) on Material Management and Accounting System requirements, with general CAS and FAR regulations
Bachelor’s degree or higher
Security Clearance This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. Ability to obtain U.S. Top Secret – Interim Pre‑Start & Final Post Start.
