Position Purpose The Project Manager plans, directs and coordinates all activities of the designated projects from inception to completion. This position is responsible for delivering a quality product, controlling project costs and meeting scheduling deadlines in order to achieve the highest customer satisfaction.

ADOT Highway Project Experience Preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Carry out duties in accordance with Sunland’s Core Values.

Review project estimate, proposal, specifications and plans to develop, implement and manage the project schedule, budget, staffing requirements and equipment needs.

Coordinate project schedule, requirements, expectations and goals with production team, contractors, sub‑contractors, utility providers and required governmental agencies prior to commencement of work.

Obtain any necessary permits and/or licenses required by the job.

Participate and/or lead pre‑construction meetings, including meetings with Project Stakeholders.

Collaborate with Superintendent, Foreman and Project Consultant to determine production schedule.

Establish work plan in conjunction with Superintendent and Foreman for each phase of the project.

Track progress and review project tasks and modify schedules, plans or processes as needed to meet project goals.

Enforce safety regulations and proper job site management.

Oversee financial components of the project; work with Project Consultant, Superintendent and Foreman to capture, record, assess and keep the project within budget and profitable.

Partner with Estimating Team to complete a project hand‑off process for a smooth transition from estimating to production.

Participate in bid reviews.

Prepare project reports for management and customers regarding job costs and project schedule.

Provide technical advice to project team to resolve problems.

Oversee project quality control throughout construction to meet or exceed customer expectations.

Motivate, mentor and develop direct reports.

Perform any and all duties as assigned.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Work in an office setting as well as outdoors.

Must possess mobility to use standard office equipment, including a computer.

Stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions.

Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen.

Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.

May be required to work on the project site and use vehicles, machinery and equipment within safety guidelines.

May be required to work outside, frequently for long periods of time in all weather, including extreme hot and cold temperatures.

Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment in a variety of situations.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Exposure to chemicals, vapors, pollutants, gases, uneven surfaces, loud noises, moving vehicles, machines, dust and debris is possible.

Travel

Must be willing to travel to any and all job sites without exception, including staying away from home if necessary.

Minimum Qualifications Education and Work Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering and/or 5 years of highway asphalt paving or related field experience.

Must have excellent computer skills and be able to use project management software.

Must have strong mathematical skills and perform complex computations for layout design and material requirements.

Broad understanding of project management, budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation and contract administration.

Minimum of four (4) years of related experience.

Previous heavy construction or asphalt industry experience.

Must be a critical thinker who proactively anticipates problems and is solution oriented.

Must be fluent in English and meet FMCSA English proficiency requirements under 49 CFR 391.11(b)(2).

Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations

Current driver’s license.

Clean motor‑vehicle record.

Passing a pre‑employment drug and alcohol screening and background check.
