Job Summary This role acts as a leader in the provision of patient care using the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope & Standards of Practice. The leader delegates, directs, and assists licensed and ancillary team members and is accountable for quality patient outcomes. The position supports the organization’s philosophy of nursing and is involved in activities aimed at achieving unit and departmental strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

Effectively uses the nursing process in the delivery of patient care.

Assesses learning needs and implements teaching strategies appropriate for the diverse needs of the patient, family, and other groups or disciplines.

Communicates, delegates, and manages nursing team resources (human and fiscal) and serves as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team.

Uses data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change in order to achieve optimal outcomes.

Embraces concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction, employee morale, and the profession of nursing.

Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, with respect for privacy, introduction, explanation of services or procedures, and communication style.

Performs other related duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs)

Proficiency in using computers, software, and web‑based applications.

Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.

Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.

Education Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Work Experience Required: None.

Certifications

Required: Current registered nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Preferred: Certification in a clinical specialty area.

Physical & Environmental Demands Employees may be required to lift objects ranging from 10 to 100 pounds and perform tasks that expose them to blood, body fluids, tissue, and communicable diseases. The role operates in a patient care area and may involve hazardous medications or waste, requiring adherence to safety protocols.
