About Us Simsbury Meadows Performing Arts Center (SMPAC) is a vibrant nonprofit presenting live music, cultural programming, and community events in the heart of the Farmington Valley. We are passionate about creating memorable experiences through the arts and building community through performance.

Position Overview The Engagement and Operations Associate plays a key support role across marketing, operations, and office administration. This is an excellent opportunity for a creative, organized, and detail-oriented professional to gain hands‑on experience in all aspects of nonprofit arts management. Working closely with the Executive Director and Director of Operations, this position helps keep the organization running smoothly and growing its audience and impact.

Key Responsibilities Marketing & Communications:

Assist with creating and scheduling engaging content across social media platforms, email newsletters, and the SMPAC website.

Help design and distribute marketing materials including flyers, signage, and press releases.

Track and report on audience engagement metrics and marketing campaign performance.

Support sponsor recognition and partner promotions before, during, and after events.

Operations & Event Support:

Assist with event logistics including ticketing, signage, and day‑of‑show support.

Manage event supplies and coordinate vendor deliveries as needed.

Support the Director of Operations with seasonal prep, rental inquiries, and scheduling.

Oversee facility messaging and displays ensuring updated and accurate content including posters, flyers, signage, etc.

Assist with annual site opening/setup and end-of-season site breakdown/closing.

Be on hand at all events to help make sure that they run smoothly; provide rider needs for artists, set up and break down events, work with security to ensure attendee safety, welcome vendors and oversee the pub on event day.

Administrative & Office Support:

Answer phones, monitor general email inboxes, and respond to basic inquiries.

Assist with general office operations including ordering supplies, as directed.

Assist with board meeting prep, including materials and logistics.

Support basic bookkeeping tasks (expense tracking, invoicing, deposits) as directed.

Qualifications

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Positive and upbeat attitude.

Must be a team player.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with social media platforms.

Graphic design, website editing, or email marketing experience are a plus (Canva, Mailchimp, Google Platform, etc.).

Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a small team environment.

Passion for the performing arts and community engagement.

High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.

Working Conditions and Physical Tasks

Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.

Evening or weekend availability required.

Ability to lift or move up to 40 lbs.

Outdoor events will expose this position to extremes in temperature and inclement weather.

Some local travel is necessary; must have a valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle.

Compensation & Benefits Simsbury Meadows Performing Arts Center offers an excellent benefit package including health insurance and generous paid vacation, sick, personal days. Flexible work schedule, some remote work possible. The salary range for this position is from $40,000 to $50,000.
