Overview of Responsibilities As a Meat Clerk you will be working in one of the most popular departments in our store. Your responsibilities include providing a high level of customer service, practicing safe food handling procedures, maintaining product knowledge and preparation techniques, receiving, storing, and grinding meats, unloading and transporting fresh, cured, and boxed meats and poultry from the delivery truck, counting and weighing incoming articles and comparing results against an invoice, examining meats in storage, and rotating meats to avoid aging. You will assist customers with questions and special orders while maintaining a positive, customer‑focused work environment. You will also use product knowledge to direct customers to product locations, perform “Clean as You Go,” and “Fresh at 4” programs, and adhere to all procedural guidelines set by the Meat Department.
Qualifications
Be at least 18 years of age, high school diploma or equivalent, basic knowledge of math, weights and measures.
Be dependable, reliable, and able to perform related duties as assigned.
Show an outgoing, friendly behavior; positive attitude and ability to interact with customers.
Work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.
Good communication skills; able to take direction and participate in a team environment.
Perform general housekeeping in the department; clean and sanitize work areas.
Adhere to all safety, health, weights and measures regulations and company recipes.
Stand continuously for up to 4 hours; total shift up to 8 hours; walk up to 2 miles per shift.
Work inside a temperature‑controlled area; possess good vision for using sharp knives and equipment.
Lift/carry products horizontally/vertically between 25 to 90 lbs; move pallets, racks, and tables within specified distances.
Pay Range The pay range for this position is $18.20 - $24.55 per hour. Sprouts Farmers Market determines pay based on applicable experience and qualifications of the applicant.
