About the Position LocumJobsOnline is working with Barton Associates to find a qualified Family Practice NP in South Dakota!We are seeking a Family Practice Nurse Practitioner for a locum tenens assignment in South Dakota. This role begins Jan 5, 2026, with a flexible schedule of 1-3 days per week and 8-hour shifts. The assignment is 1 week in length and focuses on functional medicine and hormone therapy in a dynamic, telehealth-driven environment.Job DetailsLocation: South DakotaStart Date: Jan 5, 2026LOA: 1 weekProvider Type Needed: Family Practice Nurse PractitionerSchedule: Flexible; 1-3 days per week, 8-hour shiftsResponsibilities and DutiesConduct initial consultations and new patient lab reviews via videoReview and interpret advanced labs, including GI-MAP, Methyl Detox/Genomic Panels (MTHFR, COMT, AHCY), ALCAT/food sensitivity testing, and comprehensive hormone/metabolic panelsDevelop personalized care plans, incorporating lifestyle, nutrition, supplementation, and prescription therapy as appropriateManage asynchronous follow-up care, including patient messaging, protocol updates, and lab result interpretation via EMR platformEducate patients on test results and coach on health optimizationComplete all documentation in EMR (CHARM/CANVAS) within 24 hoursProvide functional medicine–informed SOAP notes and rationale for care plansCommunicate with support staff (RN, MA, pharmacy team) to coordinate patient careParticipate in chart audits or case reviews as requested by leadershipPrescribe and manage bioidentical hormones, peptides, nutraceuticals, and other therapeutic agents as appropriateMonitor patient response, adjust dosing, and document medication changesCollaborate with compounding pharmacies and support teams for medication deliveryAdditional InformationMust have a base level of understanding with hormone therapyExperience with functional medicine and hormone therapy preferred; candidates with varied backgrounds and experience levels will be consideredDrug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certification requiredBoard certification as an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (A-GNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) requiredSouth Dakota licensure requiredFlexibility, adaptability, and strong communication skills are essentialTraining available for less experienced candidates who are adaptable and quick to learnBenefitsStrong compensationTravel-related expenses coveredA-rated medical malpractice insurance providedDedicated recruiter for future travel opportunitiesWhat are Locum Tenens Jobs?Locum tenens jobs, sometimes referred to as travel assignments, are contract positions that help meet patient care needs at various healthcare facilities and hospitals for a defined period.
