About the Opportunity & the Team
This role is part of our Active Safety User Experience Segment at WindRiver. It offers an exciting, high-impact opportunity for a Principal Product Manager passionate about mission-critical software with a global customer base.
Responsibilities
As a member of the Edge Product Management team, you will advise on product direction in the automotive market, specifically ADAS, IVI, and fusion systems. You will collaborate with the Product Management team working on VxWorks, Helix Platform, Wind River Linux LTS, and eLxr to ensure technical and business justifications are documented and understood. You will gather input from external customers, sales, market research, partners, and other stakeholders to execute the broad product strategy and promote product truth. You will lead the automotive market segment, own the automotive roadmap, understand the competitive landscape, and ensure revenue growth. Close partnership with stakeholders, product management, engineering, and sales teams is essential.
About You
You are a Principal Product Manager or similar with experience in automotive software, complex platforms, middleware, and related tools and technologies.
Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years of experience at a Tier 1 or OEM working on software stacks with RTOS or Linux.
- Strong familiarity with ISO 26262 and ASPICE.
- Effective product management skills, including trend analysis, roadmap creation, prioritization, backlog management, customer requirements gathering, and market sizing.
- Ability to articulate automotive software trends.
- Ability to handle ambiguity and incomplete information.
- Experience in business rationalization for technical products.
- Experience in writing engineering requirements.
- Strong analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
- Collaborative mindset.
- Master's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; MBA is a plus. Bachelor's degree with relevant experience acceptable.
Minimal travel required (5%).

Compensation
Annual base salary ranges from $170,000 to $200,000 plus bonus for Colorado, New York, and New Jersey residents, and $188,000 to $220,000 plus bonus for SF Bay Area, Greater Seattle, NYC, and Washington, DC residents. Salary is determined based on experience, education, skills, location, and internal equity. Role includes additional benefits such as health, dental, vision, life insurance, flexible time off, 401k, and paid holidays.
