HOUSEHOLD ASSISTANT/ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES - FULL TIME
Position within the Hillview Health Care Campuses. The role is Non‑Exempt under the FLSA and is scheduled for 60‑80 hours per pay period, with 8‑hour shifts. Employees may select a start time between 6:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., which will remain consistent. The position requires working every other weekend and a holiday rotation. Wage range: $18.09 to $20.89 per hour.
Overview This role includes routine cleaning and the assistance of residents in all aspects of their care, working under the supervision of the Support Systems Manager, Director of Nursing, Clinical Nurse Manager, and Household Coordinator.
Key Responsibilities
Assist residents in all aspects of care, following the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) job description when needed.
Clean, dust, and disinfect floors, walls, windows, bathrooms, and other resident areas.
Balance residents’ needs and routines with required cleaning tasks.
Work collaboratively with other team members to meet individualized resident needs.
Follow isolation policies and procedures when sanitizing isolation rooms.
Stock necessary supplies in resident rooms.
Assist with meals and provide support for residents who need assistance.
Participate in household meetings and in‑service educational programs.
Provide supervision of residents to maintain safety at all times.
Follow individualized resident care plans and maintain a safe, clean environment.
Maintain resident rights and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
Immediately report any suspected abuse or neglect.
Maintain courteous, cooperative, and respectful relationships with the public, clients, and other staff.
Escort individuals or groups to dining rooms and other facility activities.
Operate facility vehicles when directed to transport residents to program events or medical appointments.
Report to work on time and when scheduled; ensure equipment is cleaned and stored properly after shifts.
Assist with training responsibilities for new employees as directed.
Perform other duties as may be assigned or required.
Physical Demands Requires near vision, standing, walking, and moving around the facility for 6.5 to 7 hours of an 8‑hour shift. Uses hands for delivering personal care and treatments. Communicates via speaking and hearing. Must read and write English. Bends and stoops to a squat within six inches of the floor, pushes and pulls linen carts or wheelchairs with residents weighing up to 250 pounds or more. Lifts up to 35 pounds, transfers up to 50 pounds, and uses nursing‑related equipment such as thermometers, blood‑pressure devices, scales, mechanical lifts and adaptive equipment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge of resident care principles, hygiene, infection control, housekeeping, and clothing care.
Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, including cleaning compound mixtures.
Ability to observe facility rules, regulations, and policies and to work effectively with residents including those with dementia and mental illness.
Capability to meet the federally mandated 12‑hour in‑service requirement annually.
Training, Experience and Other Requirements
Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant at the time of hire.
Must be listed on the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry within 120 days from the date of hire.
If employed full‑time as a nurse‑aide student, must be placed on the registry within the 120th calendar day from enrollment in an approved program.
Minimum age: 17 years.
Must successfully pass a background check as required by the Wisconsin Caregiver Law.
Preference for individuals with prior facility cleaning experience.
Preferred experience with geriatric or mentally ill populations, though not required.
If driving County vehicles, must hold a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
Seniority Level Entry level.
