Swing Driver

in Baton Rouge.

Get behind the wheel in a flexible driving role. Waste Pro is seeking a Swing Driver to operate multiple refuse collection vehicles across residential, commercial, and recycling routes. Waste Pro trucks serve millions of customers daily. The role requires professional, experienced, hardworking, and dedicated people who work together to accomplish this task.

Waste Pro offers a $10,000.00 driver award attainable every 3 years when the driver meets specific criteria.

Essential Job Functions

Safely drives truck on pre-established route in accordance with Decision Driving principles within prescribed time. Collects and dumps garbage and refuse into trucks while covering a designated residential or commercial zone. Unloads trucks at landfill or transfer station, operating compaction and lift equipment on various truck types.

Provides Distinguishably Different level of service through courteous and expeditious customer service to the public and customers. Exhibits a positive attitude toward company, customer, and municipal goals.

Ensures garbage and recyclables at residences are picked up and transferred properly; may require using back door. Tags improper refuse containers and waste.

Answers resident questions and directs them to Customer Service or appropriate government office.

Performs daily pre‑ and post‑trip inspections per Waste Pro procedures and DOT guidelines. Completes Safety Lane activity and DVIR daily.

Maintains clean truck and washes exterior weekly. Inspects and cleans truck, checks fluids, air tires, and other equipment.

Performs manual duties in clean‑up of scattered refuse; moves and empties large trash bins using truck hydraulics.

Prepares, maintains, and submits required company and regulation‑mandated reports and documents.

Assists other routes, attends community events, or delivers bins and carts as needed.

Responsible for all people working on vehicles during the designated route.

Must comply with all Department of Transportation and State requirements for operators of commercial motor vehicles.

May be required to work during emergency situations.

Qualifications

Must have a Class A or B CDL valid for the state in which the position works; requires a safe driving record.

Requires 2 years of waste industry driving experience within the past 7 years.

Must be at least 21 years of age or older.

Understanding of refuse collection policies, procedures, guidelines and practices; understanding of Department of Transportation and State requirements.

Normal hearing and vision, with or without correction.

Exhibit normal range of body motion.

Drive front‑end, side, rear‑end, or roll‑off loading refuse trucks, including right‑hand driver position on certain equipment, observing legal and defensive driving practices.

Manipulate heavy equipment control levers.

Follow a designated refuse collection route or work schedule.

Understand and carry out oral and written instructions; maintain written records and service responses.

Speak and read English well enough to communicate with customers, co‑workers, dispatch and supervisors, understand highway and traffic signals, and make legible entries on paperwork.

Other Job Responsibilities

Attend and participate in corporation‑sponsored training courses as assigned.

Keep up to date on current technology applicable to Waste Pro operations.

Any additional duties that may be assigned by the Supervisor.
