Job Position: Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) — Fayetteville, NC

Birch Agency is seeking a dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to join a student‑centered school team in the Fayetteville area. This in‑person role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting students with visual impairments through individualized instruction and specialized educational services.
Position Details
Role: Teacher of the Visually Impaired
Setting: School‑based / In‑person
Employment Type: Full‑time
Key Responsibilities
Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments
Interpret ophthalmological and medical eye reports as they relate to educational access
Contribute to the development and implementation of IEPs
Recommend and coordinate specialized evaluations, including low vision, orientation and mobility, adaptive physical education, and psychosocial assessments
Consult with classroom teachers, diagnosticians, families, and related service providers regarding instructional strategies, accommodations, and testing modifications
Provide direct instruction in Braille and other specialized skills as appropriate
Maintain thorough, accurate, and timely documentation in compliance with state and school requirements
Qualifications
Master’s degree from an accredited institution (preferred)
Active North Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification or licensure (required)
Experience working with children and adolescents in a school‑based setting, particularly students with special needs
Strong collaboration and communication skills
