Position Objective To provide a security presence at the school complex, ensuring safety of students and campus activities.

Provides a security presence at the school complex by walking around the facility and monitoring activities and students; reports the presence of unauthorized personnel to the school office.

Monitors activities on campus to ensure the safety of students, which may include identifying safety violations, diffusing situations among students, and reinforcing positive social behavior.

Performs minor housekeeping and groundskeeping tasks to keep the environment free of litter and danger.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Pay Grade B

FLSA Status Non-Exempt

Education & Experience High School Diploma or G.E.D.; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

Licensing Requirements

Ability to complete Crossing Guard training.

Valid Department of Public Safety (DPS) Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPCC).

Knowledge

Basic safety and security principles, practices, equipment, and procedures; customer service principles.

Skills

Recognizing potential security risks.

Providing customer service.

Communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to exchange information and receive work direction.

Physical Requirements Positions in this class typically require reaching, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
