Summary The Production Assistant is an entry‑level role for individuals who want to launch a career in cement manufacturing with a world‑class organization. Under general supervision, the Production Assistant performs general cleanup and material handling duties, learns about all facets of the business—including maintenance, production, reliability, operating mobile equipment, and mining operations—and gains experience that prepares them for further advancement.
What You’ll Be Contributing
Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
Cleans plant areas as directed, including shoveling cement, managing spills, sweeping dirt, picking up trash, and cleaning drainage ditches.
Operates motorized vehicles such as pickup trucks, motorized sweepers, forklifts, and dump trucks to perform material transport duties.
Operates sweeper to contain dust inside and outside of the plant.
Performs general landscaping and grounds maintenance duties.
Assists in performing maintenance, production, quarry, and shipping duties as needed.
Provides vacation coverage and relief for other departments.
Completes additional duties assigned by the supervisor.
To Succeed in This Position, You Will Need
High school graduation or equivalent (required).
Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
Knowledge of plant numbering systems and the location of major plant equipment.
Understanding of plant operations, including the process flow of raw materials, gases, and finished products.
Willingness to learn; training will be provided.
Ability to operate a shovel, wheelbarrow, forklift, bobcat, pickup truck, front‑end loader, dump truck, motorized sweeper, jackhammer, mower, weed eater, hand power tools, and related equipment.
Good communication skills.
What To Expect In a Cement Environment The job is performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations (up to 250 feet), all weather conditions, and the normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure. The work demands walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling, working in awkward positions and confined spaces, and handling materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
