Job Description

This role is field-based and candidates should live within the territory, covering Indianapolis and surrounding areas including Greenwood, Terre Haute and Bloomington. Talent will be hired at a level commensurate with experience.

  • Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field, manage sales performance, and maximize short- and long‑term sales while putting patients at the center of all efforts.
  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed goals.
  • Create pre‑call plans using SMART objectives, conduct post‑call evaluations, handle objections, and consistently secure calls to action to close sales.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and win‑win agreements.
  • Develop call plans that optimize coverage and frequency to key customers, maximizing access and sales opportunities.
  • Build understanding of customer needs, market landscape, competitors, and product expertise, sharing market intelligence with in‑field, brand, and sales teams to align strategy and anticipate changes.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition, identify and maintain disease‑state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business‑related field preferred; equivalent industry experience may substitute.
  • At least five (5) years of relevant industry experience with at least three (3) years within the pharmaceutical/health/science sector; high school diploma or GED required.
  • Proven track record of sales success and solid presentation skills; ability to adapt selling approach to customer style.
  • Credible role model who influences others, builds partner relationships, and demonstrates positive leadership.
  • Experience in senior or support roles with increased responsibility at district, region, or organizational levels.
  • Preferred: Success in sales within therapeutic areas, commercial pharmaceutical experience (physician/account selling, training, managed care, or marketing).
  • English language proficiency, verbal and written.
  • Must satisfy all HCIR credentialing requirements for facility entry in the territory, including background checks, drug screens, immunizations, fingerprinting, and state licenses.
  • In-depth scientific, therapeutic, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and strategic thinking in a matrix environment.

Additional Information

  • Compensation: Base pay range is $78,500.00 – $192,500.00, subject to geographic factors and may vary over time.
  • Benefits: Paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick), medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k) eligibility, and short‑term incentive programs.
