The Department of Pathology at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center (UHCMC) and Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) School of Medicine is seeking an academic pathologist with expertise in Bone and Soft Tissue/Sarcoma Pathology. Applicants should be board-certified in AP or AP/CP with fellowship training in BST pathology or equivalent experience and qualified for an unrestricted medical license in the State of Ohio. Both recent graduates and more experienced pathologists are encouraged to apply. The faculty member will support the bone and soft tissue/sarcoma service as well as other services, including frozen section coverage, the education of residents, fellows and medical students, and weekly tumor boards in conjunction with Seidman Cancer Center. Involvement in clinical, translational or basic research is encouraged, and collaborative research opportunities are extensive. Additional protected time is possible for applicants who will pursue a funded research program, and start-up packages are available for physician-scientist candidates.

UHCMC receives over 4900 BST/Sarcoma cases annually, varying from core biopsies to complex surgical resections. The 900+ bed UHCMC includes UH Seidman Cancer Center, UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital and UH MacDonald Women’s Hospital, all situated adjacent to CWRU. The NCI-designated Case Comprehensive Cancer Center supports basic, translational and clinical cancer research. UHCMC is ranked as one of America’s 100 best hospitals. The Department of Pathology is in the top 13 nationally in NIH funding and has an annual total of ~100,000 surgical specimens.
