Multimodality/Radiology

Technologist Department: Radiology Reports To: Director - Radiology Direct Reports: None FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

Position Summary The Multimodality Tech performs any combination of Radiographic Imaging procedures on ambulatory, and hospital patients in a physician office, clinic, and/or hospital setting as requested by a Physician or other licensed Provider and under general supervision of a Radiologist for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols. The Multimodality Tech must be able to effectively explain the procedure to the patient and be sure they are comfortable and at ease during the exam and provide care to the patients while obtaining diagnostic quality images for interpretation by a Radiologist.

General Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities Accurately orders tests from outpatient orders; faxes reports (EMR and manual), and scans orders and reports; accurately enters diagnosis codes into EMR and obtains signed ABNs when necessary. Ensures correct patient identity using two patient identifiers. Performs tests within standardized time frames; checks the majority of images for technical quality prior to releasing patient; places files with other required paperwork; ensures documentation is accurate and complete. Explains the test/procedure to patient and/or family; makes sure patient/family has basic understanding of procedure to alleviate fears and apprehension and gain patient's cooperation; shows willingness to answer questions; gives patient full and undivided attention while in presence of patient and demonstrates a sense of caring. Assesses work needs and completes tasks in order of priority in the assigned work area. Ensures safe and up to date working knowledge of all imaging equipment; follows standard precautions and uses equipment safely and appropriately; conducts appropriate radiation safety practices. Completes routine daily, weekly and monthly cleaning; maintains department equipment and assists with calibration of equipment; ensures proper documentation is completed. Performs all aspects of the position in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors; utilizes established hand-off communication protocols. Reviews department inventory levels and maintains appropriate level of supplies. Demonstrates flexibility in work schedules. Complies with all established safety procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff. Participates in performance improvement activities.

Experience Requirements Radiography, Mammography and CT scanning minimum 2 years Preferred

Computer Skills Strong computer skills with the ability to navigate EMR programs

Additional Skills Ability to work independently, prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner Excellent communication and customer service skills
