Job Description Salary: $15.00 Seasonal Position- May 18, 2025-August 31, 2025, up to 40 hours per week
The Crystal Lake Park District is seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Nature Center Program Instructor to join our Interpretative Services team. Under the supervision of the Nature Center Recreation Supervisor, this seasonal role is responsible for the planning, development, and delivery of nature-based educational programs for schools, scouting groups, community organizations, and the general public.
If you have a love for the outdoors, a background in environmental or natural sciences, and a talent for engaging all age groups through creative and educational programming, wed love to hear from you! Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in environmental science, education, or related field preferred. At least 2 years of teaching or public presentation experience. Strong communication, time management, and leadership skills. Ability to engage with diverse audiences and age groups. Proficient in basic computer applications. Must be self-motivated, reliable, and capable of working independently. Evening and weekend availability is required. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines while maintaining professionalism. Key Responsibilities
Plan, organize, and lead nature-based educational and recreational programs. Develop and write program content for brochures, field trips, scout badge programs, birthday parties, and community outreach. Deliver engaging presentations and lectures for schools and community groups. Maintain supplies, ensure program areas are set up and cleaned up, and verify class enrollments. Collaborate with the Nature Center Recreation Supervisor and Marketing Department to create promotional materials.
