Cushing Terrell is seeking a Software Engineer III to serve as a senior technical lead on a small internal engineering team. This hands-on role involves designing, building, and maintaining in-house software that supports critical business workflows. You will write production code, provide technical leadership, and mentor other engineers while working with stakeholders across operations, finance, engineering, and architecture. A key focus is modernizing legacy desktop applications with modern, maintainable systems while ensuring business continuity. 8+ years of software development experience • Strong skills in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining production systems • Experience leading and mentoring engineers • Advanced SQL and relational database experience (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL) • Building web-native applications in JavaScript/TypeScript (Node, React, or similar) • Familiarity with Linux and Windows environments • Proficiency with Git and collaborative platforms • C# and .NET Windows desktop experience • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools Design, develop, and maintain internal applications • Lead replacement of legacy applications with modern technologies • Ensure code quality, reliability, security, and maintainability • Stay current with evolving technologies and AI-assisted tools This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus. **The majority of the time, a person in this role will be sitting in an office with limited physical requirements.
