Job Description
The Senior Corporate Counsel reports to the Chief Legal Officer. This position will examine contracts involving design and construction projects, leases, insurance, etc., and review various corporate and governance agreements and documents. Provides legal advice to the organization, prepares reports, guidelines and participates in the management of legal actions. Works closely with other departments to foresee and protect the company against legal risks.
This position can be based near the following CRB locations: Kansas City, MO, St. Louis, MO, Atlanta, GA, Cary, NC, Boston, MA.
Responsibilities
Develop relationships and collaboratively partner with internal stakeholders to assess legal and business risks and support the implementation of suitable mitigation remedies.
Manage projects successfully to completion.
Examine contracts involving design and construction projects, leases, insurance, corporate governance, etc.
Review various agreements and documents.
Provide legal advice to the organization.
Prepare reports and guidelines and participate in the management of legal actions.
Work closely with other departments to foresee and protect the company against legal risks.
Capable of managing multiple projects at a time and successfully completing them.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
Juris Doctor Degree, licensed to practice law in applicable state(s).
Minimum of five years of legal experience, preferably in an engineering and construction law practice or corporate legal department for same.
Experience with managing and resolving engineering and construction disputes and litigation.
Additional Qualifications
Experience with the preparation, review, and negotiation of design and construction contracts.
Excellent writing, communication and problem‑solving skills.
Demonstrated growth in leadership capabilities, including the ability to influence cross‑functional teams, take initiative in complex legal matters, mentor colleagues, and contribute to strategic decision‑making.
Excellent presentation skills.
Service‑oriented mindset.
Ability to research and provide guidance on compliance‑related issues throughout the company.
Team player with good business acumen and problem‑solving skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Sharepoint).
Willing to travel 15 to 20 percent.
