ASSISTANT PRODUCT DESIGNER

APPARATUS is a New York based designer and manufacturer of a distinctive catalog of high-end, high-touch lighting, furniture and objects. We produce both in house and with the support of high-quality external partners; our catalog is sold globally.

The Assistant Designer plays a key role in supporting our custom product pipeline. This role is responsible for drawing and documenting custom iterations of APPARATUS products, with work that protects company design principles while collaborating with Sales to deliver beautiful and efficient solutions to clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Drawings Develop and maintain accurate technical drawing packages, installation instructions and templates for custom orders, including rugs, furniture, lighting, objects and internal projects. Utilize aesthetic vocabulary of APPARATUS to create the best custom iterations of existing collections for client requests. Documentation and Collaboration

Upload all custom order files into the appropriate software systems and organize drawing files on the shared server. Work proactively with the sales and assembly teams regarding custom orders, communicating about project questions, timelines and updates. QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design. Proficiency in Solidworks, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office. 1-3 years' experience in industrial design, with a focus on lighting and furniture a plus. Experience designing with materials such as wood, metal, glass, porcelain and leather, including a basic understanding of their manufacturing properties. Experience in a high-paced environment that prioritizes precision, excellence and consistency. SKILLS

Strong aesthetic judgment and visual communication skills. Excellent verbal and written communication. Ability to manage multiple priorities with grace and clarity. Collaborative mindset; able to work cross-functionally and build relationships at all levels. Discretion with confidential and proprietary information. WORK SCHEDULE

Full-time in-person hours: Monday-Friday, generally 10:00AM-6:00PM Longer hours and weekend availability as needed PERFORMANCE REVIEW AND CHECK-INS SCHEDULE

Salary from $55,000
