Job Summary/Responsibilities
Performs histologic techniques, routine and special staining and preparation of cytologic specimens. Typical Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking. Continuous: static gripping of an object for prolonged periods. Frequent: walking, twisting body, reaching above and at shoulder level, repetitive arm/hand motions. Occasional: standing, stooping/bending, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, lifting weight of 10 pounds up to 50 pounds. Typical Working Conditions: Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions. Exposure to blood and body fluids, chemicals, communicable diseases and other hazardous materials. Exposure to fumes from formaldehyde, xylene and alcohol. Minimum Qualifications: A. Education/Certification and Licensure: Current certification as Histotechnician HT(ASCP) or Histotechnologist HTL(ASCP) with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP). B.
