Job Description
Job Summary: We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Line Cook to support food service operations within a correctional facility. This role involves preparing meals according to established menus and dietary guidelines, maintaining a safe and sanitary kitchen environment, and following all facility security procedures. The ideal candidate is dependable, professional, and able to work effectively in a structured environment. Location is in Bessemer, AL.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes, dietary requirements, and daily menus.
Set up, operate, and clean kitchen stations, equipment, and utensils.
Assist with food preparation, portioning, and storage following food safety regulations.
Maintain strict cleanliness and sanitation standards in compliance with state and facility guidelines.
Monitor and follow correctional facility safety and security procedures at all times.
Work cooperatively with kitchen supervisors, correctional officers, and other staff.
Track and report inventory needs, shortages, or equipment issues.
Ensure all tools and equipment are accounted for and properly secured.
Qualifications
Previous experience as a line cook, prep cook, or in a commercial kitchen preferred.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards (ServSafe certification a plus).
Ability to work in a highly regulated, security-focused environment.
Schedule & Pay
FULL TIME; schedule may vary:
Thursdays 8am-5pm
Fridays-Sundays 4:30am-12:30pm
OR 12pm-6pm each day
$14/hr
Must have reliable and timely transportation
Drug-free; background check required
