The post-holder will provide generalmedical services and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary caresetting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered andtemporary patients.
Towork with the GPpartners, salaried GPs, the Practice Manager, the nursing and administrationteam to deliver a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting.
Theappointee will also have the opportunity to take part in leading on key diseaseareas (monitoring trends in treatment, staff training and prescribing) andassist in developing appropriate healthcare services for a diverse patient list.This is a GMS Practice currently with 11,100 registered patients.
Main duties of the job CLINICAL RESPOSIBILITIES:
In accordance with the practicetimetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him / herself available toundertake a variety of duties including face-to-face consultations, telephoneconsultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signingrepeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, patient test results, patientmedical reports and examinations (e.g. DWP Reports) on behalf of the Practice,paperwork and correspondence in a timely manner;
Making professional, autonomousdecisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referredfrom other health care workers within the organisation;
Recording clear andcontemporaneous I.T. based consultation notes to agreed standards;
Collecting data for auditpurposes;
Compiling and issuingcomputer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-writtenprescriptions whenever possible);
Prescribing in accordance withlocally agreed or national guidelines;
In general the post-holder willbe expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associatedwith a GP working within primary care.

We care for our patientsfrom our modern, purpose built and well-equipped surgery on one site in thecentre of Ringwood, easily accessible from the A31. We try hard to preserve thebest elements of traditional general practice being friendly, accessible,responsive to local need and offering continuity to our patients. We operatetotal triage-meaning we deal with patients problems on the day in 10 remotetriage appointments per session with 4 telephone follow up appointments andface to face appointments decided by the clinician.
We have good systems forlong term condition management, supported by experienced nurses forCOPD, asthma, diabetes. We consistently score highly on QOF.
